MCDA Overview

Our History

The Mississippi Collegiate Dining Association (MCDA) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening campus dining, elevating student voices, and fostering collaboration between students, universities, and foodservice partners across Mississippi’s colleges and universities.

MCDA serves as the unified student-led body representing dining committees, campus leaders, and student consumers throughout the state. By connecting institutions that operate under providers such as Sodexo, Aramark, and Chartwells, MCDA creates a professional network that ensures student perspectives are included in decisions that directly impact their daily campus experience.

Founded to address the lack of a coordinated, statewide student voice in dining services, MCDA works to improve food quality, service standards, sustainability, and customer experience across Mississippi’s higher education system. The association provides leadership development, advocacy, and professional engagement opportunities for students while supporting universities and foodservice providers in building stronger, more responsive dining programs.

MCDA operates through a structured governance model that includes a Board of Directors, an Executive Board, and campus representatives from participating universities. This structure allows MCDA to balance student leadership with institutional accountability while maintaining consistent standards across all member campuses.

Through conferences, campus engagement programs, leadership training, and industry partnerships, MCDA helps prepare the next generation of higher education and hospitality leaders while improving the quality of dining for students today.

MCDA’s mission is to unite Mississippi’s college campuses around a shared commitment to excellence, transparency, and student-centered dining — ensuring that every student’s voice matters at the table.

Mission

The Mississippi Collegiate Dining Association (MCDA) exists to unite student dining leaders across Mississippi, strengthen campus dining programs, and ensure that student voices are actively represented in decisions affecting food service, quality, and the campus dining experience. Through advocacy, leadership development, and collaboration with universities and foodservice partners, MCDA works to advance excellence, accountability, and innovation in collegiate dining.

Vision

MCDA envisions a Mississippi where every college student has a seat at the table — where campus dining is student-centered, professionally managed, and continuously improving through collaboration between students, institutions, and industry partners. Our vision is to build the nation’s leading student-driven collegiate dining network, setting the standard for transparency, engagement, and service across higher education.
